County reports cases of newborns with COVID-19 for first time

The Florida Department of Health just released its latest numbers with data through Monday, and the report shows a total of 48,730 confirmed coronavirus cases among children.

The number of Covid-19 recoveries has surpassed 25 lakh in the country while the case fatality rate has further declined to 1.83 per cent, the Union health ministry said on Thursday.

Of the almost 9,000 new cases recorded in the last two weeks, the report says that more than 80 percent of them - 7,282 total - were among school-aged kids, between the ages of 5 and 17. At the peak of the virus in the spring, the state regularly reported well over 1,000 new cases on a daily basis. They're asking the community for patience, and stress they are returning calls as soon as possible.

SIU is now reporting six active cases. This brings the total number of cases to 1,923 - with 1,135 of those active.

According to the Saline County Health Department health officer Jason Tiller has been working closely with the Saline County School Districts to develop a decision matrix. More information about place of death is being confirmed. Of the 193 babies who were tested at birth, eight were positive.

The San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department is asking for the public's feedback on testing.

Hospitalizations have also continued to rise, with at least 63 people hospitalized since the pandemic began - up from 10 at the beginning of July.

Most of those who are infected suffer relatively mild symptoms and can recover at home.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported a total of 225,627 confirmed cases and 7,954 related deaths.

A total of 4,199 cases are now considered fully recovered in the province, as well.
