Getting to semi-finals isn't good enough: Maguire ahead of Sevilla clash

Ahead of Sunday's UEFA Europa League semi-final, Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United side is the best Red Devils side in recent years.

And the Portugal worldwide still has the chance to end his season with silverware as United hope to book their place in the Europa League final by beating Sevilla. The defender also said that every trophy is important and the side needs to win every knockout game.

Sevilla are a cracking side in excellent form so my first instincts are to worry, but this United side always play better against better sides, it's usually the matches they are expected to win easily where they struggle.

United are looking to make it third time lucky having lost in the semi-final stage of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, with Solskjaer underlining the importance of grasping this opportunity. Again, it's not something that this club wants to do, finish third, but at the start of the season from where we was previous year, I'm sure a lot of people would have taken that.

The Red Devils will want revenge against the Andalusians, who knocked them out of the 2017/18 Champions League, winning 2-0 at Old Trafford after a 0-0 draw in Spain.

A strong second half of the campaign has raised optimism that United are heading in the right direction under the Norwegian's guidance, and a final meeting against either Inter Milan or Shakhtar Donetsk would represent an opportunity to finish the season with silverware.

"We've learned that it's very painful to lose a semi-final".

"Well, when I lose a game or if I lose at something, you don't want that feeling again so I would think they're ready for a battle on Sunday, yeah".

"The coach all the time speaks to me to play my game and what I already did in Sporting to have same confidence and try same things".

"I feel good, I feel good in myself", he said.

"We have to play our best game, play out of their press, be clever, be creative, step up in those big moments", Solskjaer told reporters. The authorities will give us as much rest as they can.

"You know that when you come to a semi-final you're playing against big teams with quality - so big-game players have to step up and you need to have 100 per cent focus". We have 30 days at least before we start.

"And we have also got to make sure that the teams who finished below us in the table stay behind us".

'We watched it, of course, and I have to say Bayern Munich are setting the standard at the moment, ' he said.
