Laura’s remnants could produce strong storms in the Midlands Saturday

Storms that develop will have heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

In western and eastern parts of the state, heavy rain, strong wind gusts and isolated tornadoes are possible Saturday as the remnants of Laura make their way to the east, according to the National Weather Service. These waves will come through the evening and into the overnight hours, finally coming to an end during the early morning hours of Saturday.

All eyes on Laura...which is expected to move right over the Heartland on Friday as a weakening tropical depression.

Laura is one of the strongest hurricanes ever to strike the USA pounded the Gulf Coast with wind and rain Thursday as Laura roared ashore in Louisiana near the Texas border, unleashing a fearsome wall of seawater and killing at least two people. It will be muggy today, with high reaching near 90 degrees. This area of thunderstorm activity has increased through the day and could become more organized through the weekend as it approaches the Caribbean. There will be scattered storms around this evening into tonight, with the best chance for rain north of I-64. A high of 86 degrees is forecast.
