Liverpool Enter Talks To Sign Jamal Lewis Alternative

Liverpool's pursuit of a backup left-back has taken a minor setback as the Reds have seen their initial offer rejected by Norwich City, as reported by James Pearce.

The relegated club had rejected a bid of £10million for the player, holding out for an offer of £20million.

Kostas Tsimikas is the latest left-back to find himself linked with a potential move to Liverpool.

It does not necessarily represent the position of Liverpool Football Club.

The report adds that Liverpool will only be paying some £11.75 million for the Greece worldwide - who has three caps for his country - and he'll sign a five-year deal. He has earned three caps for the Greek national team. He will challenge Robertson for the starting berth next season. He also registered five assists in 20 Greek league appearances.

In fact, Takumi Minamino is the biggest name to join the Reds since their Champions League success of 2019, with Klopp only adding young players and goalkeeper Adrian last summer.

Left back seems like the main area of concern at the minute, but a centre back and midfielder could well be next on their list.

Liverpool signed Robertson from relegated Hull City three years ago and believe Lewis can enjoy a similar path of development, the youngster already a full global with Northern Ireland and possessing the attacking instincts to thrive in the Reds' side.

The Canaries were demanding around £20m for Lewis and Liverpool were prepared to pay only half of that.
