Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Southampton midfielder completes Tottenham medical

Financial details of the transfer were not disclosed but British media reported that Spurs have paid Southampton around 15 million pounds ($19.64 million) to sign the 25-year-old Hojbjerg who had a year left on his contract.

He becomes Tottenham's first senior signing of the summer window, adding competition to the likes of Harry Winks and Tanguy Ndombele in the defensive-midfield area of Jose Mourinho's Tottenham side.

Hojbjerg joins Spurs for an initial £15m, which could rise to more than £20m with add-ons.

Hojbjerg was stripped of the Southampton captaincy after telling the club he would not be signing a new contract.

'I am very pleased we have been able to bring him back as our player, as this is a position that we have been looking to improve in and Kyle does this for us. I'm very proud. I think there's a fantastic future ahead for the club.

Walker-Peters, meanwhile, moves to Saints after coming up through Tottenham's academy and making 24 first team appearances.

As long as there are no late complications, the newspaper says the transfer is expected to be officially announced in the next 48 hours with full-back Kyle Walker-Peters joining Southampton in a separate £12m deal.

He has been a solid performer for Ralph Hasenhüttl during his tenure at the club, and played an instrumental role in their turnaround last season following a humiliating 9-0 home defeat to Leicester City in October 2019.

"I've really enjoyed my football, the atmosphere here and also the style of play".
