Ryan Kent: Rangers have rejected Leeds bid, says Steven Gerrard

If the player is keen on staying at Rangers, Leeds are unlikely to get him this summer regardless of how much they are willing to offer.

'He is progressing very quickly and is a player we want to keep hold off.

Bielsa has been with the club for two seasons and had a revolutionary impact upon the Yorkshire side's fortunes, guiding Leeds back to the Premier League following a 16-year absence after winning the Championship title last season.

Marcelo Bielsa wants the wide man and hopes to make it third time lucky after he twice tried to sign him when he was at Liverpool.

"He can still add numbers to his game but he is a massive asset to us and we want to keep Ryan Kent here".

After rejecting a reported £10million for Kent, it will be interesting to see whether Leeds return with a new bid or end their pursuit of the Rangers star.

After locking horns with Jurgen Klopp's side, Leeds face Fulham at Elland Road and a trip to Sheffield United before meeting Pep Guardiola's Manchester City. That's the truth and the reality.

"They are way, way off with that opening bid".

However, Rangers are understandably loathed to lose a player they only signed permanently from Liverpool less than a year ago. He's a big part of what we're trying to build here.

This time past year, it was Norwich City at Anfield, an away trip to beat most others on the opening weekend.

"But you know that Premier League teams hold a lot of power and that's the reality".

"But the message to Leeds is the opening bid is nowhere near the valuation and the player doesn't really have one as we don't want to sell".

Leeds begin their Premier League campaign with a trip to champions Liverpool on September 12.
