Famed DJ Erick Morillo, best known for his 1993 hit "I Like to Move It", was found dead in Miami Beach on Tuesday (September 1) morning.

A spokesperson for Miami Beach Police told LADbible: "The Miami Beach Police Department is investigating the death of Mr. Eric A. Morillo (DOB: 3/26/71)". He was found dead after officers received a 911 call at 10:42 a.m from 5660 La Gorce Drive.

Morillo was born in NY in 1971 but spent most of his pre-teen years in Colombia before returning to the USA with his family and settling in New Jersey.

Best known for his work in worldwide house music, Morillo produced his biggest hit in the '90s with the electro-dance track "I Like to Move It". which he put out under the stage name Reel 2 Real. He started DJing for friends and family at the young age of 11.

He began DJing as a teenager and teamed up with Latin musician El General, with whom he collaborated on the 1991 single 'Muevelo.' The song, a mixture of house music and reggae, became a hit, and Morillo began a busy schedule of remixes and DJing. Between the years of 1998-2011, Erick was either nominated or won an honor for Best House DJ or Best International DJ.

In August, Morillo was arrested and charged with sexual battery. He made several sexual advances on the woman before she fell asleep, later waking up nude to find Erick also naked standing next to her. He turned himself in to police with his lawyer after results of a rape kit came back and tested positive for his DNA.
