Joe Montana wrestles away grandchild from home intruder in alleged kidnapping attempt

Four-time Super Bowl champion Joe Montana rescued one of his grandchildren in a kidnapping attempt, according to multiple reports Sunday.

Joe Montana and his wife Jennifer were involved in a terrifying incident on Saturday when they came face-to-face with a home intruder that tried to kidnap one of their grandchildren.

Montana and his wife Jennifer confronted the woman, who was holding the child in her arms, when she attempted to go upstairs with the infant. After a brief struggle, Jennifer Montana was able to wrestle the child from Dalzell.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said a female intruder entered the couple's home in Malibu on Saturday evening and grabbed their sleeping grandchild. She fled the scene but was captured by sheriff's deputies, who happened to be in the area for an unrelated matter, just a few blocks away. She was arrested, and quickly booked on kidnapping and burglary charges.

Sending all our love and good thoughts to Montana's family as they recover from what must have been a surreal and terrifying experience.

"Thank you to everyone who has reached out", wrote Joe Montana on Twitter.

"Scary situation, but thankful that everybody is doing well", the Hall of Fame quarterback tweeted. "We appreciate respect for our privacy at this time".

Montana played in the National Football League from 1979 to 1994, winning four Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers. He was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in the year 2000.
