Manchester United making progress on Jadon Sancho deal

The young Dutch midfielder revealed the role that Edwin van der Sar, Ajax chief executive officer and former United goalkeeper, played in convincing him to make the move.

Manchester United have won 13 Premier League titles in their traditional red shirts and white shorts and their away strip is a charcoal grey kit but this season they will be sporting a new third kit in occasional games where there is a colour clash.

So far in this transfer window, United have made one major signing, bringing in midfielder Donny van de Beek from Ajax. They just spent £40m on a position where they are already strong. "And how does he play with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes?"

Ok, let's question the logic here.

There are many United fans who feel, amongst other targets, that a new centre-back is needed to take the club to another level but unfortunately that feeling isn't quite shared by the club.

Bergwijn probably knows better than most how good van de Beek really is given they are global teammates, but it doesn't seem the club were ever that serious about landing him, especially once Pochettino departed.

And closer to home, Van de Beek had a couple of Ajax legends to turn to for their opinion on the Red Devils. It's like them going for Jadon Sancho.

"They definitely need a centre-back, they definitely need a midfield player, they definitely need a forward and a right winger, and I think that they need also potentially another defender, maybe a left back".

There are no suitors for Phil Jones, but it is unsurprising since reports recently claimed that United are withholding surgery for the player because they want to sell him.
