Protester Suspected in Portland Shooting Killed by Officers During Arrest, Reports Suggest

Last Sunday, the Oregonian reported that the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) suspected Reinoehl, a self-described antifascist, of shooting Danielson.

Police suspect Mr Reinoehl of killing a right-wing activist named Aaron Danielson in Portland last weekend, when scuffles broke out between rival groups of protesters.

Federal agents from the FBI and the US Marshals Service had located Reinoehl on Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Lt. Ray Brady: "There was a confrontation between the officers that were on scene and the subject". All members of the U.S. Marshals task force also were in vehicles, and vehicles - Brady did not know how many - were moved into position to block the suspect from fleeing.

The suspect exited an apartment shortly before 7 p.m. and got into a vehicle to leave, the Thurston County Sheriff's Office said in a statement sent to The Epoch Times. Protesters have been calling for an end to police brutality and systemic racism in policing.

The news outlet noted that they did not independently verify his claims.

Trump tweeted about Danielson being shot on Thursday night, asking why he hadn't been arrested. "Do your job, and do it fast.".

The 48-year-old Reinoehl, an Army veteran who proclaimed himself "100% ANTIFA", was interviewed by freelance journalist, Donovan Farley, in an unknown outdoor location.

His sister said she's unsure what led her brother to Washington state, and wondered if he had a friend from his snowboarding tour days that lived in that area or if he "just went there because it was a place to go".

President Trump called for the arrest of Reinoehl the same day that he was shot, asking why nothing had been done yet. After enduring a deployment of federal agents to the city earlier this summer, the demonstrations are ongoing, seeing frequent clashes between activists and law enforcement and showing few signs of slowing down. Witnesses said they then heard 40 to 50 shots.

Protesters returned Thursday night to a law enforcement building that's a frequent site of protests in Portland.

Danielson was a member of Patriot Prayer, a far-right group based in Vancouver, Washington.

The victim was taking part in a rally in support of US President Donald Trump at the time.

Reinoehl ran into Danielson and a friend after a pro-Trump auto caravan rolled through Portland.

In the wake of the shooting, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler pleaded on Sunday for an end to violence. Reinoehl's social media posts listed him as a professional snowboarder and construction worker.

"It was a free-for-all and the police were letting it happen", Reinoehl said on the video.

Reinoehl was arrested in July for possessing a loaded gun during a riot.

Those who were with Danielson at the time believe they were targeted for their conservative beliefs.

He said he thought his friend was about to be stabbed.

He said he didn't know what had started the altercation between Collins and the group, but that several people had chose to intervene when they saw Collins fighting with minors.

Brady did not confirm whether Reinoehl wielded or fired the weapon, as some witnesses reported. "I jumped in there and pulled the gun away from people's heads, avoided being shot in the stomach, and I got shot in the arm". He was arrested on driving under the influence, unlawful possession of a firearm, and endangering the welfare of a minor, among other charges.
