Some Midwest States Seeing Positive Covid-19 Test Rates of 30%

The United States recorded 316,000 new cases in the week ended September 27, up 10% from the previous seven days and the highest in six weeks, according to the analysis of state and county data.

Of the cases notified today half were in Dublin but Cork has emerged as a new hot spot. The U.S. could reach 3,000 daily deaths by the end of December, more than triple the current number of daily deaths.

The county continues to meet IDPH targets for its number of tests performed, emergency department visits and hospital admissions for COVID-19-like illness and intensive care unit bed availability.

Brookings County remains in the "substantial" community spread category.

A FURTHER 324 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Ireland, the Department of Health has said this evening. "Last week 1 in 10 close contacts who had a test were found to be positive - many of them had no symptoms".

As of Monday, 17,692 people have recovered (159 new), 1,488 people have been hospitalized at some point (15 new), 209 people are now hospitalized (down by seven), and 218 people have died (no change).

COVID-19 cases have been increasing in at least 21 US states, while health experts warn of a potential surge of cases in the fall and winter seasons.

Several states such as New York, Massachusetts, Vermont and ME have positive test rates of less than 1%. As of Friday, the list includes Grundy County. Out of the beds that are designated for COVID patients in ICU hospital beds only 12% of them are now being used across the state of South Dakota. South Dakota set records for new cases three times last week.

The report also says from August 9-Sept. There have been 141,671 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, which account for 94% of total cases.

Eighteen states are reporting steady case counts.

Health officials in several Midwest states are reporting positive coronavirus test rates as high as 30% over the past week, according to a report on Sunday. A total of 91 faculty, staff and students were quarantined and isolated as of Monday, with 18 of those in campus facilities.

"Remember that Covid-19 is highly contagious and you can be infectious without symptoms".
