Worker falls from Florida's StarFlyer attraction to his death, officials say

The unidentified worker was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A 21-year-old man fell to his death Monday morning while working on the Orlando StarFlyer, a tourist attraction touted as the "world's tallest swing ride", authorities said.

The 21-year-old, identified as Jacob David Kaminsky, was climbing the tower of the StarFlyer attraction at the Orlando ICON Park in the U.S. on Monday morning when he fell.

Orange County officials named the victim on Monday afternoon, following notification of his next of kin.

"It's a shock and we're saddened by it." said John Stine, Director of Marketing and Sales for the StarFlyer.

Just before 8 a.m., rescue crews responded to the StarFlyer attraction at ICON Park, NBC affiliate WESH reported.

The StarFlyer ride opened at the Orlando theme park in 2018, where it is billed as "sky high safety" combined with "450-feet thrills".

The worker struck a platform below the ride at ICON Park on International Drive in Orlando and went into cardiac arrest, according to first responders who were called to the scene. "It's extremely sad. But we're holding up and supporting each other", he added.
