Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Makes Changes to Beta

During the beta, experience signature Black Ops combat across traditional 6v6 modes, 12v12 Combined Arms, and a brand-new 40-player mode, Fireteam: Dirty Bomb.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches on November 13th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Xbox Live Gold is required for Xbox One players.

Non pre-order customers can still take part in the multiplayer beta weekend on Xbox One and PC, but not until the open beta begins at 6pm BST on October 17.

Thus far, the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer has only been playable on PS4; first in the brief Alpha event, and now in the first Beta weekend.

At this point, all Call of Duty players can match up and play together.

A special beta-specific levelling system will be active for the length of the open beta and those that reach Level 10 will receive a SMG Weapon Blueprint in the main game when it launches in November.

However, the October 15 release date only actually applies to early access pre-order customers.

To ensure you don't miss a second of the action, fans can pre-load the Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War beta early.

Since it first opened at the end of last week, Treyarch and Activision have since transitioned the ongoing Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Beta from Early Access to free access; granting all PS4 players the ability to play in the Beta for free. Black Ops Cold War's beta file size on the PC platform holds data of around 42GB. Players on any platform will be able to play with anybody on any of the others.

Search for the Beta from the Xbox Store and follow the prompts to download. If you're eager for some extra playtime, beta access can be obtained by pre-ordering the game, with two additional days of game time available.
