U.S. Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.) said Judge Amy Coney Barrett's willingness to overturn abortion rights was not a "litmus test" for him.

Of Barrett, Schmitt has also on social media complimented her Catholic faith and shared experience of having a child with special needs.

"I hope to God that doesn't happen, but we don't want to take a chance that it could happen", New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said in an interview with NPR on Thursday. On today's episode, David and Sarah address the hysteria surrounding her upcoming Senate confirmation battle while breaking down what a 6-3 conservative majority would mean for the future of Supreme Court jurisprudence.

Republican senators are eager to hold a confirmation vote on the floor before the November 3 election, despite outrage from Democrats who say the victor of the upcoming election should fill the vacancy left by the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, who is also up for reelection this year, said he plans to start Barrett's confirmation hearing on October 12 with a vote pending on October 22 advancing her to the Senate floor.

Several Senate Democrats, including Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, have said they will not meet with Barrett because they are upset with her nomination so close to the election. Jon Tester said in a statement.

If President Trump is able to secure Barrett's position on the Supreme Court, Democrats like Senator Ed Markey have suggested that Biden should expand the Supreme Court if he wins the election. But he told CNN that the White House had reached out to set up a meeting while the body of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was lying in state, which he called "the most tasteless" move - "even coming from this administration". But fallout from the pandemic is largely out of his control.

The senator said he was feeling fine and asymptomatic, but will be following doctor recommendations and self-isolating for ten days at his home Huntersville, N.C.

He added that Barrett, who is tested daily, is following CDC guidance and was last with the President on Saturday when she was officially nominated.

"It can sneak up on you as it did with the president and the first lady". On so many issues, we are just one vote away from losing our liberties - such as religious liberty and our right to keep and bear arms - and seeing our country fundamentally changed.

Meadows on Friday said the president has "mild" symptoms but is "very energetic" and in good spirits.
