Tory Lanez Charged With Felony Assault in Shooting Incident

Rapper Tory Lanez was charged Thursday with assaulting Megan Thee Stallion in an incident in which the female recording artist reported she was shot in the foot. He is also facing other allegations, including inflicting great bodily injury of the victim.

The Los Angeles district attorney's office announced the charges in a statement but did not mention rap star Megan in the release. On July 17, she tweeted about how Black women "are so unprotected" and often think of others before themselves: "It might be amusing to y'all on the internet and just another messy topic for you to talk about", she continued, "but this is my real life and I'm real life hurt and traumatized".

According to a press release, the rapper is accused of shooting at the victim's feet several times and wounding her.

A few days later on July 15th she once again confirmed the story and claimed, "I'm incredibly grateful to be alive and that I'm expected to make a full recovery".

Lanez used the project to talk about his supposed romantic relationship with Megan Thee Stallion, diss his naysayers for accusing him of a crime, and proclaim his innocence. Eventually, the "Savage" singer named Lanez, whom she was romantically linked to, as the person who pulled the trigger.

Lanez is scheduled to be arraigned on October 13 at the Folz Criminal Justice Center. The Los Angeles Police Department is still investigating the case.

Rapper, Megan was shot back in July and Tory Lanez was subsequently arrested but only charged with possession of a firearm. "Why would I lie abt getting shot?" If convicted, Lanez, 28, faces a maximum of 22 years and eight months in prison. "This n-a, from the backseat, starts shooting me! I don't like to be sad or keep myself in a dark place because I know it could be the worst thing happening, but the pain and the bad things don't last for long". But on August 20, the 25-year-old said on Instagram Live, "Yes".

The incident has done nothing to slow her fast-rising career.
