Twitter CEO says blocking New York Post article without context was wrong

CBS News reporter Bo Erickson put the question to Biden as the candidate boarded his private jet after a campaign stop in Michigan Friday night, two days after the New York Post broke the bombshell story.

The popular conservative-leaning tabloid claimed that the former vice-president, who was in charge of U.S. policy toward Ukraine, took actions to help his son, who in 2014-2017 sat on the board of controversial Ukraine energy company Burisma.

Twitter on Wednesday started blocking the link, citing a policy forbidding users from sharing another person's personal information without their consent, and a separate policy forbidding the sharing of hacked documents.

Twitter also said despite the new policy the New York Post story would still be blocked.

Twitter claimed in a press release that it had taken motion towards the article consistent with the corporate's "Hacked Supplies Coverage" and prevented customers from sharing the report.

Requested Saturday why Twitter was nonetheless blocking one of many Publish's tales whereas unblocking others, a Twitter rep declined to offer an evidence. Twitter blocked some people from sharing links to the story, and those who clicked on links that were shared were blocked from visiting the New York Post website.

The rapid-fire changes have made Twitter and Facebook the butt of jokes and invigorated efforts to regulate them. It went viral after Facebook and Twitter attempted to block the link and limit its reach.

Tweets of the story successfully published on Friday did not have any labels attached.

Twitter said locked accounts could easily be reversed by deleting the tweet with the article link, which McEnany claims she had to do as well. The US Senate Judiciary Committee has sent a subpoena to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.

Dorsey was weighing in after an executive at the social media company announced changes late Thursday to its policy on hacked content following an onslaught of criticism. "When authorities granted these protections, they created a monster!" the president tweeted Thursday. Big Tech & Lamestream Media are working hard to hide this corruption!,' Trump wrote.

The controversy additional escalated after Facebook and Twitter began cracking down on the spreading of the article on social media. "Why is Twitter doing this". There's no way Twitter can consistently determine whether an individual Twitter user was involved in a hack.

He says a laptop containing the emails and intimate photos was simply abandoned in a DE fix shop and the shop owner reached out to Giuliani's lawyer. That finally wound up within the palms of Giuliani, who supplied the newspaper with a duplicate of the information.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that the White House had been warned Giuliani was a target in a Russian misinformation campaign and that any Russian intelligence he claims to have should be treated as tainted. A lawyer for Joe Biden acknowledged about Giuliani, "He has been pushing extensively discredited conspiracy theories concerning the Biden household, brazenly counting on actors tied to Russian intelligence".
