Donald Trump Skips G20 Coronavirus Meeting To Play Golf

President Donald Trump has expressed annoyance at news reports, saying he blew up part of Saturday's virtual G20 summit to play golf instead.

As reported by The Guardian, the virtual summit was attended by numerous world's most powerful leaders, such as France's President Emmanuel Macron, who said at the event that "the only effective response to the pandemic will be a coordinated, global one, based on solidarity".

People who work closely with Trump don't want to answer questions about what the president is doing because he's still attempting to overturn the results of the election behind the scenes - and know they'll face questions about the president's efforts, to which they have no answers, Collins added.

"The Paris accord was not created to save the environment, it was created to kill the American economy", Mr Trump said.

Bloomberg said that as leaders from across the globe began a summit discussing issues from the pandemic to climate change, Trump's thoughts were on the tussle over the USA election, adding the incident underscores Trump's disinterest in the summit. He claimed America had been efficient in fighting the pandemic while touting low unemployment and what he said was surging demand in the U.S. economy.

That is true, but not that remarkable.

A White House readout of his remarks said that Trump 'highlighted how the United States marshaled every resource at its disposal to respond to the crisis, as well as the unprecedented economic recovery of the United States on a foundation of tax and regulatory cuts, energy independence, and fair trade deals'.

More than 180 nations have ratified the accord, which aims to keep the increase in average temperatures worldwide "well below" 2C and ideally no more than 1.5C compared with pre-industrial levels.

USA withdrawal took effect on November 4-the day after the election.

After a complex winding-down process, the United States formally left the Paris agreement on November 4.

The administration said it wanted out of the treaty because Russian Federation was violating the pact, and imagery collected during the flights can be obtained quickly at less cost from US or commercial satellites.

Addressing the online G20 summit on Sunday, the US President said the 2015 Paris agreement on climate change was "designed to kill the economy of the United States, not save the global environment".

Mr Xi, who has pledged to make his country carbon-neutral by 2060, said China "applauds" the so-called circular carbon economy, or CCE, put forward by Saudi Arabia, a controversial plan that seeks to reduce emissions while capturing and reusing greenhouse gases produced by burning hydrocarbons.

"China will honour its commitment and see the implementation through".

India's prime minister, Narendra Modi, said "climate change must be fought not in silos, but in an integrated, comprehensive and holistic way".
