A joint team of RAB-9 and police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Mohsin in the morning after being tipped-off about his location, said Ashraf Ullah Taher, deputy police commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police.

The 28-year-old Mohsin Talukdar, the person who threatened Shakib, was arrested by Bangladeshi's Rapid Action Battalion on Tuesday.

Dhaka: Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been given an armed bodyguard after he was threatened by Islamists for attending a Hindu ceremony in neighbouring India, the country's cricket board said Wednesday.

In the evening, Mohsin again went live on Facebook and apologised for threatening Shakib and advised the cricketer to apologise to the nation. His wife was previously detained for questioning. "The Kali puja was inaugurated much earlier before I arrived by Firhad Hakim".

"Media, social media everywhere it was flooded that I went to Kolkata to inaugurate a puja ceremony which actually was not the reason behind my visit and I did not inaugurate puja. I am sorry for this and apologize", he said. Shakib did not inaugurate our puja at all. I stood for two mins in the pandal.

"While I was going back to the vehicle, I had to go through the pandal because all other exits were blocked".

Shakib was reportedly present at the 59th Shyama Puja of "Amra Shobai Club" at Kankurgachi in East Kolkata. "Being a practicing Muslim, I always try to follow the religious customs". Seeing the hullabaloo around him, Shakib released a video where he clearly said that he didn't inaugurate the Puja and mentioned that it was inaugurated by Kolkata mayor Firhad Hakim.

Moreover, Trinamool Congress MLA Paresh Paul, who was the main initiator to a Kali Puja stage in Kolkata, denied that the cricketer inaugurated the puja. "Please forgive me if I have done anything wrong", he added.
