Metro Nashville's COVID-19 report shows 89 new reported cases of the virus, but a drop in overall active cases.
With three more succumbing to the virus, the death toll has touched 601. Twenty-seven deaths have occurred in the last week. Hospital officials are also taking a hard look at whether they can accept out-of-count patients. The region's positivity rate increased from 12.7% to 12.9%.
The seven-day rolling average of Illinois' positivity rate rose from 9.6% to Saturday.
Local health officials have been warning residents to "cut back" on social gatherings, even with extended families, as new cases increases and area hospital capacity reaches unsafe levels. The country reported 1,376 new cases and 30 deaths from the coronavirus on Friday.
"With significantly increasing cases, contacting everyone quickly is not always possible", Administrative Health Officer Lisa Stefanovsky said.
Total COVID hospitalizations: 32,435, an increase of 118 in 24 hours. Officials say that such gatherings are where the coronavirus can easily spread, especially if people do not wear proper face coverings securely over their nose and mouth.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath.
