The Weeknd Sports Face Bandages At AMAs

Justin Bieber and The Weeknd, two of Canada's most successful and post popular musical stars, were among the biggest winners at the 2020 American Music Awards on November 22.

It was a record sixth win by Swift of the top prize at the fan-voted show, although she was absent from the Los Angeles ceremony and accepted her trophy by video, thanking fans for their support of her surprise lockdown album folklore.

Canadian singers Justin Bieber and The Weeknd - the latter sporting a large white face bandage - were the other big winners, with three awards each.

He also took home awards for Favorite Song - Soul/R&B for "Heartless" and Favorite Album - Soul/R&B for After Hours.

Canadian singers The Weeknd and Justin Bieber took home three awards each while American singer Taylor Swift won the Artist of the Year award and two other trophies

Justin's track with Dan + Shay, "10,000 Hours", picked up the Collaboration of the Year and Favourite Song - Country awards, while the superstar was named favourite male pop/rock artist.

He gave no reason for his appearance, which confused fans on social media, but it appeared to be an artistic choice that started with his March album cover where he sported a bloodied and broken nose.

The megawatt style began on the red carpet with host Taraji P. Henson in a glitzy shift dress by Giorgio Armani and continued with stars like Jennifer Lopez and Bebe Rexha in glimmering gowns. Bieber exclusively sang "Holy" and performed "Lonely" with Benjamin Joseph "Benny Blanco" Levin, 32, and "Monster" with Shawn Mendes, 22.

Still, some Twitter users were perplexed when they saw The Weekend accepting an American Music Award for favourite soul/R&B album on Sunday night, suggesting that he "needs a medic". Becky G bagged the Favorite Female Latin Artist award, a new category at the AMAs.
