Wipeout Contestant Passes Away Following Taping - Full Details

A contestant on Wipeout has died after completing the game show's obstacle course, authorities and sources close to the production said on Friday. The unidentified person passed away from cardiac arrest on Wednesday.

According to reports, the man was on the show's Sable Ranch set in Canyon Country, California, when he had the heart attack but was not on the course.

We're told the contestant was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

It's not yet known what exactly lead to the individual's death, however all contestants are required to undergo medical exams prior to participating in the obstacle courses. E!

A TBS spokesperson also told Fox News: "We are devastated to have learned of his passing and our deepest sympathy goes out to the family".

Production on the United States reboot of the game show was paused on Thursday and Friday following the incident ahead of a week's break for Thanksgiving.

Endemol Shine released a statement saying, "We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and our thoughts are with them at this time".

The show first premiered on ABC in 2008 and moved to TBS this year.

The show is being hosted by John Cena (The Suicide Squad) and Nicole Byer (Nailed It!) with Camille Kostek (I Feel Pretty) as the entrenched Host in the Field.

As of this writing, there's no word yet on how this will affect future episodes of the show as it's now in production.

The source added how the contestant was attended to by the show's onsite emergency professionals and paramedics who are present at every taping.
