National Basketball Association game postponed due to COVID-19

Meanwhile, the league announced Thursday that of the 558 players tested for COVID-19 in the week starting December 16, there were two new confirmed player positive tests. He won't be able to travel with the team Friday, but he could fly to Portland the following day.

The likes of James Harden, John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins should be available for those games, unless they get traded.

He finally arrived in Houston but missed the team's first two preseason games under new coach Stephen Silas while going through the league's COVID-19 testing protocol. It makes enforcing coronavirus protocols a challenge, to say the least, increasing the likelihood of games being postponed, at best, or fully stopped.

The Rockets were scheduled to play Wednesday against Oklahoma City, a game postponed for a variety of coronavirus issues.

Harden might have dodged some steep fines, but the timing doesn't always work out so well for players.

The season resumed in late July with playoff-contending teams at the Walt Disney World Resort just outside of Orlando, Florida, and ended on October 11 with the Los Angeles Lakers winning the NBA Finals.

The NBA is trying to operate a contact sport played entirely indoors with mere 17-player rosters and frequent travel amid an unyielding pandemic. Several players on the Rockets have positive COVID-19 tests or need to quarantine due to the contract tracing protocols.

As such, the Rockets do not have the league-required eight available players to proceed with tonight's game against the Oklahoma. They will collectively come out with a plan as to whether or not he violated the league's COVID-19 protocols, according to ESPN.

But for now the eight-time All-Star is on the shelf after admitting to breaking the rules set forth in the protocols.

Harden has told National Basketball Association investigators he believed he was in compliance with health and safety protocols, a source close to the situation told Shelburne.

Harden has been making headlines lately as he & Houston may be drifting apart from one another.
