The man called by U.S. federal police the worst serial killer in USA history, Samuel Little, who confessed to 93 murders, died Wednesday at the age of 80, the report said.

The cause of his death must be officially determined during an autopsy to be performed in Los Angeles County, where he had been incarcerated since late 2014. During approximately 700 hours of interviews, however, Little provided details of scores of slayings only the killer would know. He even drew sketches of numerous murder victims in order to prove that he had killed them. The crimes took place in 19 states, with most of his victims in California and Florida.

According to NBC News, the 80-year-old may be connected to more than 90 murders that were committed from 1970-2005 in Texas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Illinois, Ohio, California, Indiana, Arizona, New Mexico, and SC.

He was a former boxer, and investigators said they believe he knocked out his victims with a punch before strangling them while masturbating.

Most of Little's victims were women, many of them prostitutes, some were drug addicts or poor people living on the edges of society. Some victims were never found. At least one was transgender.

In 1985, he was sentenced to four years in prison for assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment. He pleaded not guilty at trial, but was eventually convicted and sentenced to three consecutive life sentences, with no chance of parole.

He drove her to Kentucky and killed her there, leaving the body on a hill.

In an interview in 2018 with The Cut, a web-based subsidiary of NY magazine, he said that killing his victims "felt like heaven".
