With the iPhone 12 skipping a charging adapter in the box later, it was only a matter of time before Android OEMs adopted the same idea for their products.
It's fine and dandy if Xiaomi doesn't also introduce a new fast charging feature that the older Mi phones didn't have, making you buy a new, compatible charger to utilize the feature - because that's what Apple did.
When Apple announced that the iPhone 12 lineup would not include a charger in the box, Xiaomi was one of many phone brands to quickly mock the company for the move. Along with the announcement, Jun also posted the picture of the box in which the Mi 11 will ship.

Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, is on the Chinese social network Weibo, in a self-translated version of the post from the original Chinese, Jun said the "change was a contribution to the call of technology and environmental protection, the included charger was cancelled from the box".
Jun will be discussing the topic in Mi 11's press conference if there's a better solution between industry practice and environmental protection. The company's next launch will be the Mi 10i in India and it remains to be seen whether this one carries the charger or makes it an option for buyers. Xiaomi is likely to launch the Mi 11 Pro alongside the regular Mi 11.
Not many people expected Xiaomi to follow suit that soon, but there you go. The Mi 11 will be unveiled on December 28.
