Australia set for Paramount+ mid

The company plans to expand the service to the Nordics on March 25 and Australia in mid-2021. ViacomCBS announced the new streaming service will launch Thursday, March 4. Showtime, the sister streaming service to CBS All Access, will continue to operate separately from Paramount+. It will offer exclusive access to the latest films from Paramount Pictures within a year after the cinema premiere and titles such as Sonic The Hedgehog, Gemini Man and Paw Patrol: Ready, Race, Rescue.

The CBS All Access rebrand will also make it available beyond North America.

ViacomCBS' Paramount Plus will launch March 4, the corporate introduced Tuesday. Per the company, "The presentation will deliver a comprehensive overview of the company's streaming strategy, including Paramount+, Pluto TV, and Showtime OTT".

ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish previously announced in September that CBS All Access would change its name to Paramount Plus, and noted in a subsequent interview that executives chose the name because Paramount had more branding ... Announced in September of past year, Paramount+ will be the hub for all the assets scooped up in the Viacom and CBS megamerger, which includes BET, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, and Paramount Pictures, among others, with its own slate of originals as well.

CBS All Access, which charges $6 per month for its ad-supported tier and $10 for its ad-free one, was among the first direct-to-consumer streamers, and has differentiated itself with a mix of live, local and on-demand content offerings, including NFL and Champions League coverage, originals and a large library of TV series and movies.

CBS All Access reportedly has 8 million to 9 million subscribers in the USA, so it's nowhere near the size of Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, or even Hulu. And likely the reason why ViacomCBS went with that name.

Currently, CBS All Access has approximately 8 to 9 million subscribers.

CBS All Access has been around since 2015, and its most prominent original shows are associated with Star Trek, including Star Trek: Discovery and Picard. It's renaming the expanded streaming service to Paramount Plus in early 2021 to reflect its wider scope - and, we'd add, better compete with rivals.

Paramount+ will officially enter existence in multiple markets on March 4th. But we are still waiting some more details on this rebranding.
