Beijing vaccinates thousands in Covid-19 jab drive

Mainland China reported 24 new COVID-19 cases on January 2, up from 22 cases a day earlier, the national health authority said on Sunday.

"It is as a result of our steadfastness and dedication, that India was declared polio-free in 2014". Today's trial run has come after the first round of trial runs in four Indian states.

"I feel like people are like, 'I can still do it until this [la pandémie] ends without receiving the vaccine, "said April Lu, a nurse at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, to the California newspaper".

Samples collected from an accessories department at the Daimler Northeast Asia Parts Trading and Services Co.in Beijing's Shunyi District tested positive for COVID-19, an official said at a press conference on Sunday.

Beijing has already administered around 4.5 million doses of largely unproven emergency vaccines this year - mostly to health workers and other state employees destined for overseas jobs, according to authorities.

On Saturday, the dry run was conducted at identified health centres in Nagpur, Jalna, Pune and Nandurbar districts of Maharashtra.

Chinese developers have been slow compared with their western peers in releasing clinical trial data, raising questions over transparency, efficacy and safety as the world puts a laser focus on which vaccines will be most successful in fighting the pandemic.

"We can not allow ourselves to become a pariah nation, we don't really have a choice when it comes to COVID-19 vaccine, we have to vaccinate our public, especially those that are vulnerable, the elderly, those that are most likely to have severe illness and we will definitely not be left behind as a country".

The dry run would equip the state and UT administration in the management of vaccine supply, storage and logistics including cold chain management, the ministry had stated.
