'LOUSY HUSBAND': Ronnie Spector speaks about passing of disgraced ex Phil Spector

PHIL SPECTOR, whose groundbreaking orchestral productions came to be known as the "Wall Of Sound", and who later was sentenced to prison for second-degree murder for the death of actress LANA CLARKSON in 2003, died SATURDAY (1/16) at a hospital in central CALIFORNIA of what the CALIFORNIA DEPT.

Clarkson, 40, was killed by a shot to the mouth, fired from Spector's gun in the foyer of his mock castle home outside Los Angeles on February 3, 2003. He was convicted in 2009.

He also produced the Christmas album A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector, which featured on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of all-time.

According to a statement from the department, "California Health Care Facility inmate Phillip Spector was pronounced deceased of natural causes at 6:35pm on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at an outside hospital". Spector had been serving a 19-years-to-life sentence at the time of his death. It led him to be inducted into the Rock "n" Roll Hall of Fame.

Prosecutors charged Spector with murder despite his assertions that Clarkson, the star of such films as Barbarian Queen and Amazon Women on the Moon, had shot herself for reasons he could not grasp.

By the 1970s, Spector began to earn a reputation as a gun-carrying eccentric, with controversy soon surrounding the producer in the decades that followed. "I loved him madly and gave my heart and soul to him", Ronnie added.

Spector produced The Beatles" final album to be released, "Let it Be', in 1970, after which Beatle Paul McCartney disavowed the finished product.

The couple were married in 1968 but divorced six years later.

Spector, who was from Bronx, New York, produced recordings by The Beatles, Ike and Tina Turner, Cher and the Ramones.

In an act of humble graciousness, Ronnie Spector, a superlative singer who suffered at the hands of Phil Spector during a torrid and abusive seven-year marriage, has issued a statement on Instagram celebrating the man: "It's a sad day for music and a sad day for me".
