In a statement issued on the White House website, Mrs. Trump mourns the deaths of the four people who died trying to overthrow a legitimate, democratic election, as well as the Capitol police officer killed by that same mob.
The First Lady's self-defense comes after former Trump aide and friend Stephanie Winston Wolkoff published a bitter j'accuse in The Daily Beastlast week casting Melania Trump as a passive aider-and-abettor with "blood on her hands".
She also asks that Americans "take a moment, pause, and look at things from all perspectives". "This time is exclusively about healing our country and its citizens".
"It is these defining moments that we will look back and tell our grandchildren that through empathy, strength, and determination, we were able to restore the promise of our future", she said.
"Like all of you, I have reflected on the past year and how the invisible enemy, Covid-19, swept across our attractive country".
CNN correspondent Kate Bennett noted that Trump used nearly word for word quotes in reference to the siege on the Capitol and in a speech she gave in support of President Donald Trump's re-election bid last August. People have lied on her, and this is the injustice against which we must rally on "Our Path Forward".
After the paltry, "I absolutely condemn the violence that has occurred on our Nation's Capitol".
The first lady's absence has drawn attention in the wake of the national crisis that erupted on Wednesday when President Donald Trump encouraged a large crowd of angry followers to march on Congress. "Violence is never acceptable", she said in a statement released by the White House. Ivanka Trump seemed more concerned with her image in the immediate aftermath of the Capitol riot, having the New York Post's Page Six report that "Ivanka is hurt" after Karli Kloss tweeted criticism of her sister-in-law. She made no comment about her husband or his role in encouraging his supporters to go to the Capitol.
"We no longer have the freedom to express our viewpoints without persecution in America so I don't know what you're talking about", another argued.
That bit and other elements of the statement have been compared to previous speeches and statements from the First Lady. I want to thank the millions of Americans who supported my husband and me over the past 4 years and shown the incredible impact of the American spirit.
"I am grateful to you all for letting me serve you on platforms which are dear to me".
The President is now set to be tried for another round of impeachment by the House this week.
