Here is the 1st look at the new ET7 Sedan unveiled by Nio. Every vehicle has smart air suspension and active damping control.
China-based automaker Nio has removed the wraps from its latest large saloon, the ET7. The is basically hardware-ready for autonomous driving and the features will be offered through a monthly subscription for 680 yuan. Meanwhile, performance should be equally awe-inducing, with dual electric motors (255PS front+408PS rear) putting out a combined 653PS and 850Nm torque, good for a 0-100kmph run in 3.9 seconds, no mean feat considering the ET7 measures in at 5,098mm long, with a 3,060mm long wheelbase. There will be 70 kWh and 100 kWh battery options available at launch (the same options existing NIO vehicles have), but later in 2022 NIO will introduce a 150 kWh battery option that will have a 1000 km (620 mi) range using the generous NEDC range test. With the 70 kWh battery pack, ET7 features an NEDC range of over 500 km.
It's not uncommon to hear engineers describe the current crop of battery-powered EVs as a stepping stone. By leveraging Qualcomm Technologies' leading technological innovation and automotive product portfolio, this working relationship aims to bring more intuitive and immersive digital cockpit experiences enabled by high-performance computing and 5G technologies to users, driving accelerated transformation towards 5G intelligent and connected vehicles.
The NIO AQUILA Super Sensing has 33 high-resolution sensing units, including 11 8 MP high-resolution cameras, and 1 ultralong-range high-resolution LiDAR. The Power Swap 2.0 box, says Nio, will charge and swap as many as 312 batteries a day, running a diagnostic on each vehicle to identify faults early.
Its New York-listed shares finished the year up 1,112% and the company has begun reporting gross positive margins, having delivered 43,728 vehicles in 2020.
NIO's new sedan also includes a laminated glass roof, heated and massaging seats in both rows, a 23-speaker audio system, and a low drag coefficient of just 0.23, according to the company. The range can exceed 700 km and even 1,000 km with the 100 kWh and 150 kWh battery packs respectively.
Of course, this is limited to China, where Nio is planning to expand its Power Swap Station installations up to 500 sites.
Nio hasn't said what level of self-driving capability the NAD system will have at launch, though the company mentioned highway driving, parking and battery swapping as planned use cases for the ET7. The ET7 Premier Edition has a pre-subsidy price of RMB 526,000, or RMB 398,000 with BaaS. You simply drive into the station and an automated system handles the swap. The ground-breaking solid state tech is also expected to rapidly decrease charge times for NIO's electric vehicles and, we're told, extend overall battery life.
