Resident Evil Village Release Date, Exclusive PS5 Demo Revealed

We've known of its existence for months, but a new trailer and the all-important release date were announced during the showcase.

The demo does not contain gameplay from Resident Evil itself, but instead works as a separate, smaller experience which shows off some of the new game's world, characters, and lore.

Yesterday's Resident Evil Showcase certainly had a lot of exciting news, including a multiplayer tease, a new trailer, a PS5 demo, and even a release date, but it seems that many are overlooking the biggest reveal of the night. Additionally, PS4 and Xbox One owners of Resident Evil Village will be eligible for free upgrades to their respective next-gen counterparts.

What we got was nothing more than that, nothing less.

If your PS5 console is connected to the internet and you enable the automatic download, it should install the demo ready for the moment you want to play it.

While it's been a rather busy day for Resident Evil fans with the gameplay reveal of Resident Evil Village, Capcom has also rolled out a Resident Evil 7 biohazard update 1.08 for PS4 and Xbox One. Various weapons skins will also be available to earn in-game. They're suitably terrifying, but there are plenty of other nasties to avoid and occasionally shoot at when your bravery returns. As a result, M-Two wanted the remake of Resident Evil 4 to be more faithful to the original game. Fabiano says the demo doesn't have combat, but like Resident Evil 7: Beginning Hour, the events of the demo will likely tie into the events of Resident Evil Village in some way.

The RE4 callbacks continue with another mysterious merchant who'll be selling you items throughout the game.
