Michael Jackson's Posthumous Global Sales Reach 9 Millions

Michael JacksonMichael Jackson struggled for decades to reach the record-smashing sales he achieved with 1983's landmark Thriller album. But since his unexpected passing on June 25 at the age of 50, the King of Pop has once again become the most dominant musical figure on the planet. Jackson's albums and compilations have locked down the top 10 on the Top Pop Catalog Albums chart in the United States for the past three weeks, selling more than 2.3 million albums since the singer's death, including 1.1 million over the past seven days.

At a time when most contemporary stars struggle to notch sales of more than 2 or 3 million, the numbers are impressive, but they're even better when sales across the globe are factored in. According to the Los Angeles Times, an unidentified source with knowledge of sales figures for the catalog said that more than 9 million Jackson albums have been sold worldwide since June 25.

Michael Jackson rules album charts

Michael Jackson Blood on the Dance FloorMichael Jackson has increased his grip on the charts in the wake of his sudden death two weeks ago (June 25). The King of Pop has 13 albums in the top 200, according to The Official Charts Company, and four of the top five albums feature him. Jackson’s “The Essentials” grabbed the top spot from last week’s ruling CD, “Number Ones”.

The other Jackson albums in the Top 10 are “King Of Pop” (number 5), “Thriller” (number 6), and “Off The Wall” (number 10). In the UK singles chart, Jackson also placed his 1980s hits “Man in the Mirror” and “Billie Jean” at numbers 2 and 10, respectively. It is notable that these Jackson songs and albums made the mainstream charts and not just the catalogue charts compared to most postmortem releases by other artists.

"Michael Jackson was murdered", La Toya revealed

la toya jackson and michael jacksonMichael Jackson's sister La Toya said in an extensive interview that there were four fresh needle marks on the King of Pop's neck when he died - and that she believes her brother was murdered.

"Less than a month ago, I said I thought Michael was going to die before the London shows because he was surrounded by people who didn't have his best interests at heart," La Toya Jackson told a British newspaper.

"I believe Michael was murdered," she said. "I felt that from the start. Not just one person was involved, rather it was a conspiracy of people."

Jackson's official cause of death is still being investigated. The Los Angeles Police Department has said Jackson's death could be ruled a homicide if the autopsy indicates the singer was given illicit amounts of powerful prescription drugs.

La Toya said a private autopsy revealed the needle marks. The official autopsy won't be complete for two more weeks.

She also revealed Michael regularly kept up to $1 million in cash and a vast collection inside his home, none of which has been found. She added: "Michael did not want to do the planned "This Is It" concert series in London, but he was coerced into it."

Michael Jackson's death investigation may lead to murder charges

Law enforcement have confirmed the central target in both the coroner and LAPD investigations into Michael Jackson's death is Dr. Conrad Murray, who was at Jackson's house when the singer went into full cardiac arrest.

The doctor seems not cooperating with authorities, but they have still found evidence linking him to the drug that may have killed Jackson. As we first reported, as a result of Dr. Murray's second interview with police two weeks ago today, the LAPD obtained a warrant to conduct a second search of Jackson's home -- and that's when they found Propofol, a powerful anesthesia that should never be used outside a hospital. There is evidence Propofol was administered to Jackson shortly before his heart stopped beating.

And we're told there is evidence Dr. Murray may have administered the drug. Dr. Murray's lawyer, Ed Chernoff, told he would neither confirm nor deny if Dr. Murray administered Propofol to Jackson. Law enforcement sources tell us if they conclude the doctor administered the drug it may well lead to manslaughter charges.

Investigators are also suspicious of the delay in calling 911 -- the Dr. says he waited 20 - 30 minutes because he didn't know Jackson's address that would lead paramedics to the house. Michael Jackson's Memorial

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Details of Michael Jackson's public memorial remained under wraps on Sunday as Los Angeles police braced for a huge crowd of fans expected to turn out and again warned those without tickets to stay away.

About 1.6 million people registered to be one of 17,500 people inside the memorial at the Staples Center sports arena in downtown Los Angeles Tuesday or to watch it on large video screens at a nearby theater.

Fans who won tickets were to be told by e-mail on Sunday. The company sponsoring the event will pick 8,750 names from a list of online lottery entrants each winner will receive two tickets.

A family spokesman declined to give details of the event, such as who might eulogize Jackson or which of the King of Pop's celebrity friends may perform. He did not offer specifics of a separate, private family funeral, and police told Reuters they did not have any information about the private ceremony, either.

A person involved in planning Tuesday memorial, TV producer Ken Ehrlich, told the New York Daily News that the service will be respectful and not a party.

Madonna paid tribute to Michael Jackson last night at the O2 Arena, dancing along with an impersonator doing Jackson's distinctive moves.

A picture of a young Michael Jackson appeared on stage while Madonna was performing "Holiday," then the impersonator came on, wearing a sequined jacket, white T-shirt, white glove and white socks in the Jackson manner.

The music then switched to Jackson's song, "Wanna Be Starting Something," and the impersonator worked through Jackson's moves, including the famous moonwalk. The impersonator didn't sing.

After the number, Madonna told the crowd, "Let's give it up for one of the greatest artists the world has ever known," and the crowd roared its approval.
