Houston in talks with Carmelo over role with Rockets

Let's face it, Carmelo Anthony has been bad for the Rockets this season and the team is suffering as a result. The former Knicks star has played just 10 games for the Rockets this season, averaging 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds off the bench. So much so, after only a few weeks into the season, the Rockets are already contemplating if they can even go forward with him.

According to Wojnarowski, "talks remain fluid" regarding Anthony's status on the squad.

Anthony missed the Rockets' 96-89 loss at San Antonio on Saturday night because of an illness.

General manager Daryl Morey called speculation of Anthony's departure is "unfair" and added that Anthony has done everything asked of him of the coaching staff. Morey also noted that more people besides Anthony deserve blame for Houston's start to the season. "On that one, I have no answer for you".

He signed a one-year deal with the Rockets in the summer after he was traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Atlanta Hawks. The Rockets are 4-7 on the season and need to turn things around if they want a shot at the playoffs. Houston will owe Carmelo Anthony the full $2.4 million he signed for.

After setting career-lows virtually across the board with the Thunder a year ago, Anthony has taken another step down.
