Jamal Murray caught chasing stats against Celtics

Murray had his entire bag of tricks working for the Nuggets, and when the dust settled, he scored a career-high 48 points in leading Denver to an impressive 115-107 victory over the Boston Celtics. "But the ball deserves to go in the crowd after a (expletive) move like that, so I threw it in the crowd".

"Congratulations to him on his 48 points". Our defense has to be better, especially against a player like that in the pick-and-roll.

After Murray's missed attempt at 50, the ball landed near Irving, who took it and threw it into the crowd out of frustration. He was the primary concern tonight and he made us pay in certain instances of making some tough shots and some tough layups. Instead of dribbling out the clock, Murray shot a three-pointer as the clock expired.

Though Irving was clearly angered, Murray said that he didn't mean any disrespect to the Celtics with his final shot attempt.

"I really wasn't meaning no disrespect". Boston didn't go down without a fight and any time they got a bucket Murray had a response. I know half the team over there, so no hard feelings.

The thinking is that Murray wanted to crack the 50-point mark.

Kyrie Irving was not happy Monday night. Despite the 15-point deficit, Murray had torched the Celtics for 14 of the Nuggets' 19 points shooting 6-for-7 from the field and 2-for-3 from deep in the first frame. The Nuggets stayed hot in the third quarter behind a balanced scoring attack, taking an eight point lead into the final quarter of play 88-81.
