Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered rated in Europe

Interestingly, when rumours of Modern Warfare 2 Remastered first surfaced, just as they have now, they included murmurs of it being a campaign-only release: a remaster of one of the greatest multiplayer games of all time, but without the multiplayer component to back it up.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered has been rated by PEGI (Pan European Game Information).

As its description reads, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is a combat simulation game in which the player takes the roles of various members of a Special Operations team attempting to thwart the plans of a Russian. With how the first Modern Warfare remaster was monetized, though, it makes sense to be concerned.

While disappointing, Modern Warfare Remastered's multiplayer ended up being more popular than the game it was bundled with. Curiously, it notes a February 28 release date, and as the Americas start to inch toward midnight, it seems like hopes of making that date are slim. There was no option to get it bundled with a regular version or as a standalone initially, and though the publisher did finally offer such an option eventually, fans had to wait until June 2017 to see it happen. Although it's yet to be confirmed, it's likely that the remastered game will not feature a fully-fledged multiplayer.

Both games are available from 5th March.

If the leak is at all true, then we should expect an official announcement very soon. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the latest installment in the franchise, does not include a single-player campaign. When the title was originally leaked past year, many in the game's industry talked about how the remastered version of the famous first-person shooter would only include the campaign. This might come as a sequel edition to the original Warfare 2 game.
