Cook County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari told The Associated Press that Kelly was detained, and will be transferred to the county jail.

Kelly was taken into custody following a hearing for his child support case at the Daley Center in Chicago.

R. Kelly was taken into custody on Wednesday in Cook County, Illinois, after he was in court for a hearing over unpaid child support.

The singer is charged with having sexually abused four other women years ago, including three who were underage at the time. He didn't appear to say anything as he walked past a throng of reporters into the courtroom on Wednesday. His hands weren't cuffed. He now reportedly owes $194,000, and was ordered to pay $161,663 to his ex-wife or risk jail time.

Kelly has been taken into custody during a hearing in Chicago over unpaid child support.

Johnson said Kelly was prepared to pay a portion of the money owed, but didn't have the full amount because he hasn't been able to work.

Some have asked how R. Kelly's attorney would have let him do the Gayle King interview and many have responded they do not feel it went well for the singer.

The Grammy-winning musician had trouble posting the $1 million bond (or at least the $100,000 that was required for his release), and remained in jail for three nights.

R. Kelly has denied all wrongdoing, plead not guilty in court on the 10 counts of criminal sexual misconduct, and told Gayle King during the interview that he was innocent and everything being said about him was lies. Kelly swore he "didn't do this stuff" and said he's "fighting for his life".

Reports say that he and members of his inner circle are being investigated by the F.B.I., the I.R.S., and Homeland Security. They were describing Lucifer. "I made mistakes, but I'm not a devil".
