New England Patriots: Champions admit 'unknowingly' illegally filming Cincinnati Bengals game

The Cincinnati Bengals are "livid" after catching a video crew contracted by the Patriots videotaping their sideline from the press box during a game against the Cleveland Browns Sunday, according to a Boston Globe report.

"It's under review", Goodell told reporters. "We're gonna be thorough, and we're gonna get all the facts, and we'll go from there".

In the 2007 scandal known as "Spygate", the National Football League fined the Patriots $250,000 and forced the team to forfeit a first-round draft pick after uncovering evidence that New England had illicitly filmed the New York Jets' defensive coaching signals during a game. Goodell said Wednesday that the Patriots' history is a factor now, but not the main consideration in the decision. "Once we have all the information then we draw conclusions".

"It is kind of amusing though how much every team across the league says, 'Oh, we have to have no distractions, we have to copy the Patriots, we have to not have any off-field issues'".

"I don't have an anticipation", he told WEEI. That's what they work on - we win the division and get into the playoffs.

The team acknowledges it should not have been filming the Cincinnati Bengals' sideline at a recent game.

The situation came to light at the end of Taylor's Monday press conference when he was asked: "Rumors are out there that the Patriots had a videographer up in the Bengals' press box area working with the advance scout who was taping video of the Bengals' sideline".

"Soon, advanced scouts would be sent to the games of upcoming Patriots" opponents to film the play signals. But the Patriots still could face discipline for their acknowledged violation of National Football League videotaping rules.

On Tuesday, Belichick said the Patriots don't do anything that's "across the line" and that the team had altered its approach since the Spygate controversy in 2007. "In addition to filming the scout, the production crew-without specific knowledge of League rules-inappropriately filmed the field from the press box".

Everyone appears to be piling on the New England Patriots these days. "There was no intention of using footage for any other goal". "When questioned, the crew immediately turned over all footage to the league and cooperated fully". This is something that we 100 percent have zero involvement with. "We have nothing to do with anything they produce", Belichick said.

"As I understand it, they were videotaping him, trying to show kind of what an advance scout does, or something Iike that, I don't know", he said. "I really don't have any idea what exactly is going on".
