Arsenal must begin Aubameyang contract talks imminently, says Arteta

"I want to keep him under any circumstances".

Contract negotiations with the Gabon global took place earlier this season but were put on hold before the appointment of Arteta in December, with uncertainty surrounding the prospects of Arsenal returning to the Champions League.

The Gabon striker, 30, has scored 20 goals in all competitions for the Gunners this year and is a reported target for clubs including Barcelona and Inter Milan.

Aubameyang has played both through the centre, on the right and on the left this season, scoring goals in all areas of the pitch, which would make his departure so much more hard to swallow as Arsenal would lose depth in a number of positions.

"We haven't had any conversations", Arteta said during a press conference on Thursday when asked about the possibility of signing Ceballos. "I'm really happy with Dani and what he's bringing to the team right now".

Aubameyang was left visibly upset after missing a fine last-gasp chance to send Arsenal through but Arteta has revealed the former Borussia Dortmund forward is now over the disappointment and ready to kick on.

Arsenal's Lucas Torreira will miss the West Ham clash after he fractured his ankle against Portsmouth in the FA Cup fifth round on Monday. "He was down", said Arteta.

"The only aim is to go game by game and start grabbing three points and three points and then we'll have a chance in the last three or four games of the season".

"It's going to depend on what we do this season and what happened in the last few seasons is going to have a big impact as well".

"We will have to do that at some stage before the end of the season for sure", said Arsenal's head coach. It took him a while after his injury to get to the level that he has and that I've seen in the past. "He needs to see the specialist tomorrow here in London and we will know more about it".
