Minnesota voters get out to vote on Tuesday for the first presidential primary in the state in 28 years, so naturally, there's still some confusion about how this new system works. Large numbers of Californians vote early and by mail, which can slow election night vote counting.

Paul Mitchell, vice president of data firm Political Data Inc., expects turnout in California to be around 50%, roughly the same as in the 2016 primary, with most people voting Tuesday. California accepts ballots that arrive up to three days after Election Day and has expanded voter registration the same day, so the ballot count will continue long after Tuesday.

Clerks and election officials would like to see the state legislature change that law. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, U.S. Sen.

"The immediate popularity of the application site shows that Pennsylvania voters have welcomed the new bipartisan voting reforms and the convenience of mail-in voting", Gov. Tom Wolf said in a press release.

Florida's primary election is closed, meaning only Republicans and Democrats can vote for president. That's largely because mail ballots still needed to be counted - many of which didn't come in until the day of the election or after.

After making their selections on a touchscreen, voters will receive a printed ballot from the connected electronic printer.

The Election's department says the Voting Centers have been successful and well-utilized. Los Angeles County has about 5.4 million registered voters, and roughly 3.4 million of them have been mailed a ballot.

One big advantage of voting on Election Day is your ballot is immediately feed into a tabulator and if it's filled out improperly, you can redo it.

All of this takes place after a voter has actually filled out a ballot, an increasingly complex process because California also makes it relatively easy to qualify local and statewide initiatives and propositions for the ballot.

At Vote Centers, registered voters will be able to submit their ballots, obtain a replacement ballot or cast their votes digitally on a ballot marking tablet.

The lawsuit said a clear violation of the voters' constitutional right to a secret ballot could cause an election to be declared null and void. Previously, absentee balloting was limited to people who are age 60 and older, disabled, poll workers or who sign an affidavit saying they will be out of town on Election Day. However, other states are open-primary states, meaning any registered voters - Democrats, Republicans or Independents - are eligible to vote. Voters need to make sure the ballot is put through the scanner. On weekends, those same early voting centers run from 8 a.m.to 4 p.m.
