Donald Trump adds to divisions in an unhappy country

The 12-point margin is yet another jump from the longtime DE senator and likely Democratic presidential nominee, who has led in key battleground state polls and already had an 8-point lead when Fox News polled voters last month. And close to two-thirds - including 37 percent of Republicans - said President Trump is making America more divided.

The order also steers federal grants to police departments that seek certifications "that they meet high standards on the use of force and de-escalation training", Trump said.

In the first ad, Mr Biden says that as president he won't "traffic in fear and division" as video shows Mr Trump's comments on the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017.

A new poll by CNBC/Change Research released Wednesday found Biden had boosted his lead over Trump in these swing states where Trump won in 2016.

Black voters are even more critical of Trump, with only eight per cent believing he respect minorities compared to 79 per cent who believe Biden does.

"That is what the presidency is: the duty to care, to care for all of us, not just those who vote for us, but all of us", he says. "And we're running straight through Trump '16 states to win every vote", Biden's campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon tweeted Thursday morning.

While Biden has spent the better part of the last month ratcheting up his critique of Trump over everything from his response to George Floyd's killing by police to his handling of the economy, the 15-minute speech today marked his sharpest remarks yet on the President's handling of the virus outbreak.

Biden is leading among young voters, women and black voters. "His favorable ratings are net positive by 9 points (53 favorable vs. 44 unfavorable), while Trump's are net negative by 13 (43 favorable vs. 56 unfavorable)".

THE SUPREME Court on Thursday rejected President Donald Trump's effort to end legal protections for 650,000 young immigrants, the second stunning election-season rebuke from the court in a week after its ruling that it's illegal to fire people because they're gay or transgender.

Biden is also ahead of Trump by three points in battleground states (48% to 45%). Seventy-two percent of black Americans and 51 percent of white Americans think President Trump has made things worse following Floyd's death.

Trump supporters in MI last week held a protest called "Operation Incinerator", at which they burned absentee ballot applications.

Among those who dislike both of them, Biden is preferred over Trump in the presidential matchup by 63 points. They argue that voters should not have to choose between their health and voting. "I have the strongest base people have ever seen", Trump said, while naming former Republican senators who distanced themselves from him and then lost their seats.

The AP-NORC poll of 1,310 adults was conducted June 11-15 using a sample drawn from NORC's probability-based AmeriSpeak Panel, which is created to be representative of the USA population.

The poll was conducted over the phone and has a 2.5 percentage point margin of error.
