WH denies Trump briefed on alleged Russian-Taliban bounty intel

President Donald Trump responded to a New York Times report claiming American intelligence officials learned that Russian Federation offered bounties to Taliban-linked terrorists to kill American and coalition troops in Afghanistan.

She said that she was unaware of any such intelligence on Russian Federation bounties, but said that "we have called for a report to the Congress on this".

Chaffetz made the comments one day after Pelosi said that she's unclear as to what "the Russians have on" President Trump, but added that it must have swayed his administration not to take action after USA intelligence learned that Moscow spies offered bounties to Afghan militants to kill us troops.

"I don't know how far this goes back, when we knew what". There were some efforts at protecting USA forces because of the intelligence, the source also said.

"The questions that arise are: was the President briefed, and if not, why not, and why was Congress not briefed", Pelosi wrote in a letter to the Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe and CIA Director Gina Haspel. The office did not specify as to the date of the victims, their number or their nationality, nor whether they were fatal or injured.

The group, widely believed to have received years of support from Pakistani intelligence, also denied previous USA accusations it was given arms by Russian Federation.

U.S. President Donald Trump speaks during a meeting of the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board in the East Room at the White House in Washington, U.S., June 26, 2020.

Since the discovery of the bounty, the United States was reportedly coming up with ways in which it would counter the Russian efforts to harm its troops, including the imposition of more U.S. sanctions on Russia and diplomatic condemnation. The outlet said that Trump failed to act on the report.

Trump on Sunday denied ever being briefed on this matter, adding that Vice President Mike Pence and Chief of Staff Mark Meadows were also not given information about the allegations.

However, aides to congressional and committee leaders said no briefing had yet been scheduled. Why weren't the president or vice president briefed?

McEnany said she doesn't know who the "unnamed sources" are, but added that it doesn't serve USA interests to share reports that must be assessed for their credibility.

In a series of Twitter posts, the Russian embassy in the U.S. accused the paper of promoting fake news. So he's saying well nobody told me therefore you can't blame me, ' Bolton told CNN's Jake Tapper on 'State of the Union'.

He additional: "The White Residence assertion addressing this concern previously nowadays, which denied this kind of a briefing transpired, was precise".

The New York Times and the Associated Press also reported USA military and intelligence officials were reviewing past casualties to see whether they were tied to Moscow's alleged payments.
