Body Found in Michigan Forest Identified as Poker Pro Susie Zhao

Authorities have identified the body as Susie Zhao, a professional poker player who had recently moved back to MI to be closer to her parents.

The body was discovered at a parking area near the Pontiac Lake Trail the morning of July 13, according to White Lake Township Police Department. Local police went public with Zhao's identity this week in hope of unraveling the mystery surrounding her death.

The body of a MI poker player was found "badly burned" in the parking lot earlier this month, and investigators are now trying to determine what led to the horrific series of events.

Three hours after seeing her mother Susie Zhao's badly burned body was found in a MI parking lot.

"Surprised, confused and saddened", said her former roommate Yuval Bronshtein.

Zhao, 33, was last seen alive by her mother July 12 at 5:30 p.m., according to the White Lake Township Police Department.

Bronshtein said Zhao bounced between cities including Los Angeles and Vegas and recently moved back to MI to be with family to be with her parents and to confront challenges in her personal life.

At a media conference three friends described Ms Zhao as a "free spirit".

"She played by her own rules, she followed her dreams, she was absolutely brilliant", Meredith Rogowski said. "She was a very strong player who also liked to have fun at the table".

"No conflict, no drama", another friend added. Zhao moved between Los Angeles and Las Vegas before recently moving to MI to live with her parents and "confront challenges in her personal life", friends told WXYZ-TV.

Police said they are investigating a "coverup or some sort of retaliatory incident", but nothing is certain.

Police are trying to determine whether Zhao's death is linked to her profession.

"I never would have thought anyone would of wanted to do anything to her", Hanson said.
