Former Denver Broncos Great John Elway Tests Positive For Coronavirus

The team cancelled practice last Friday after Glasgow tested positive. Elway started developing symptoms on Monday while at the team's training headquarters and immediately left the facility.

NFL chief medical officer Dr. Allen Sills said after Ellis and Elway tested positive Tuesday that the league believes "there is not ongoing transmission among players and day-to-day operations" in Denver but that it was "something that we're going to have to continue to monitor very carefully".

Denver Broncos general manager John Elway and CEO Joe Ellis have tested positive for coronavirus, the team announced on Tuesday. Last week, offensive guard Graham Glasgow became the Broncos' first player to test positive for the virus since the season began.

"After not feeling 100% on Sunday morning, Joe promptly reported his symptoms to our medical team and watched Sunday's game at home as a precaution", the team added. Other than mild symptoms, both Joe and John are doing well. According to the team, there were minimal close contacts identified for each and none included coaches or players.

The pair have mild symptoms and will work at home in isolation, the team says.

The Broncos have gone through contact tracing and determined that the Ellis and Elway cases were independent of one another.

Other coaches are continuing their preparation work remotely for Sunday's game at the Atlanta Falcons.

In addition to Munchak, running backs coach Curtis Modkins and defensive co-ordinator Ed Donatell have been under the league's COVID-19 protocols, meaning either they were infected or had to quarantine after being in close contact with an infected individual. "Our organization will remain in communication with the NFL, making all decisions in consultation with the league and based on guidance from medical experts". If there are no further positive tests, Denver should be expected to resume its normal routine Wednesday.
