He said the Health Ministry, through the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA), has conducted a detailed risk assessment for the two vaccine brands based on information received from the Korean Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), local and global safety reports and other worldwide regulatory bodies.

When asked about the issue, Ontario's Minister of Health, Christine Elliott, said the province is dealing with increased demand but that Ontario's pharmacies knew what they were getting into months prior.

To date, pharmacies alone have administered 1 million vaccinations compared with 250,000 a year ago, Elliott said as the province reported 948 new cases of COVID-19, down from 977 on Sunday and 1,015 Saturday but with lower testing levels and seven more deaths.

"It's simple as that, you knew exactly how many flu shots you had".

With distribution fully controlled by the Ministry of Health, it unfortunately seems that Doug Ford's statement that the provincial government is "doing everything we can to make sure that as many people get that vaccination as possible" isn't ringing true for many residents right now. "We ordered them back in last January". "There are shipments coming in on a regular basis and there are no delays with shipments at all".

If you've booked in to get a flu shot at your local Rexall in recent days, you may have found yourself one of a number of residents who have had their appointments unexpectedly cancelled by the pharmacy.

On Monday, Toronto Public Health confirmed that all of its flu shot clinics are booked up until at least December 8.

The Minister of Health said that the province did plan to purchase another volume of the flu shot that should arrive soon.

"They have suggested mass flu shot clinics be delayed until mid to late November".

"We are working very hard to procure additional supply of vaccines within the next several weeks", Elliott said.
