Superstar Rajinikanth admitted to hospital

On Friday morning, superstar Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad due to fluctuating blood pressure and exhaustion.

The full statement released on Saturday morning read, "Mr Rajinikanth who was admitted in the hospital yesterday is progressing well".

Though he has tested negative for COVID 19 and has not exhibited any symptoms for the virus, he is being closely monitored, said the hospital report. "Since then, he isolated himself and has been monitored closely".

The hospital added that Rajinikanth has so far not shown any symptoms of COVID-19. The actor had left for shooting in Hyderabad on December 13 (a day after his birthday), once it resumed after the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

Family and treating doctors have requested all well-wishers to avoid visiting the hospital as he is not being allowed to meet anyone and his daughter is with him. Recently, the shooting of Rajinikanth's film Annaatthe was stopped as 8 crew members of the film were found to be corona infected.

A few days back, eight people from the sets of "Annaatthe" had tested positive for coronavirus and the production had to be halted.

His blood pressure medications are being titrated carefully and he will continue to be under close monitoring.

Rajinikanth, 70, was in Hyderabad for his film "Annathe" but the shoot was canceled earlier this week after four members of the crew tested positive for Covid.

The Darbar actor had tweeted in Tamil, "We will surely win the assembly polls and give honest, transparent, corruption-free, spiritual politics without caste and creed". Mr. Rajnikanth was tested on 22 December for Covid 19 and he was negative.

Apart from Rajinikanth, "Annaatthe" stars Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Khushbu, Prakash Raj and Soori in prominent roles.
