COVID-19: B.C. long-term care home report reveals confusion, mixed messaging

Ontario will not receive vaccine deliveries for the week of January 25 and will receive just over 26,000 doses for the first weeks of February.

According to the state's data, 105,617 people in Dallas County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 18,323 are fully vaccinated.

The newly appointed director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned Sunday that the federal government remains in the dark about just how much vaccine is now available and warned that states like NY won't be able to quickly replenish its limited supply.

"We have taken the approach to focus on the most vulnerable populations, in light of temporarily reduced vaccine availability from the federal government and uncertainty about the stability of supply, as well as provincial epidemiology", the Ministry of Health said in a release.

Ontario says the decision is backed up by Canada's National Advisory Committee on Immunization and "experience with other vaccines".

Officials said that there are about about 5,000 people in Klamath County who are 75 and older, with another 10,000 between the ages of 65 and 74.

Cox also stated the county is still now in Phase 2 of the vaccinations.

In places that have finished vaccinating long-term care home residents, like Ottawa, excess doses may need to be moved to other regions, officials said.

A third-party report examining how the British Columbia government responded to COVID-19 in long-term care homes during the first wave of the pandemic reveals confusion over policies and infection prevention.

"That's about eight per 100,000", Henry said.

Meanwhile, on the first anniversary of the identification of the first COVID-19 case in Canada, the mayors and chairs of the 11 largest municipal governments across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area held their regular weekly meeting.

Bonnie Henry says B.C. has had five cases of the United Kingdom variant.

Over the past two days, the state added 7,910 new cases of covid-19 - a 21% drop from the same two-day period last week, and 38% fewer than two weeks ago. It will also provide support for vaccine distribution by making Google facilities available, including buildings and parking lots.

The county said that the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations Friday was 1,212 patients.

The Health Department reports deaths as "COVID-19-related" not "COVID-19-only" deaths - meaning that other comorbidities may have been at play, but that the coronavirus was a factor in the person dying, Jarrell explained.

"This is the most challenging of times for us", she said.
