Hinshaw announces new COVID-19 quarantine rules for vaccinated Albertans

"If we all stay vigilant and do our part just one more time, this might be the last long weekend (where) such sacrifices are necessary", Hinshaw said. This is only as long as they have no symptoms at any point.[.] For those who have received only one dose of a vaccine, these individuals will now have a shortened quarantine period if they are a close contact with a confirmed case. The province's positivity rate sat at 9.3 per cent with 9,038 tests run overnight.

The province reported it had administered 58,925 more doses of vaccine Saturday, the fourth-most ever reported in one day. If they test negative, they will not need to continue to quarantine, but if they are positive, they will need to isolate for 10 days.

The number of hospitalizations in the province due to the virus continues to remain steady, decreasing by six people since Tuesday, to 685.

There were 812 new COVID-19 cases reported Thursday in Alberta and four new deaths.

"Regardless of whether someone has had one, two or no doses, all of the other restrictions in place still apply", Hinshaw said.

More than 2 million Albertans have now got a first shot of COVID-19 vaccine and more than 340,000 are fully immunized with two shots. AHS says it's aware of some claims made on social media that people are booking multiple appointments in an attempt to stop others from getting their shots.

Officials say those posts have been shared with police and they're also making sure pharmacies are aware of what's happening. "We are not seeing an increase in no shows", AHS said in a tweet Wednesday. "On any given day, no-shows account for approximately one per cent of the total number booked for an immunization", it said in an emailed statement Thursday.

The Alberta Pharmacists' Association said it did not have information on the matter and could not comment. You may unsubscribe any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of our emails.
