Ontario to provide an update on the COVID-19 vaccine rollout Wednesday

Ottawa is reporting 141 new COVID-19 cases and two more deaths.

Of the total number of new cases, 1,509 were recorded in the Fraser Health Region, with 438 new cases in the Vancouver Coastal Health, 61 new cases in the Island Health region, 106 new cases in the Interior Health region, and 60 new cases in the Northern Health region. There are 486 people in hospital, including 173 in intensive care.

There are 7,161 active cases of the virus in B.C. Tuesday, down by 166 from Monday. A further 122,518 people who tested positive have recovered.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 476,692 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 432,109 recoveries and 8,143 deaths, of which 3,928 were individuals living in long-term care facilities.

There were also 15 more deaths over the weekend, bringing the death toll to 1,596. Our condolences are with the family, friends and caregivers of the people who have died as a result of COVID-19.

The outbreak at the Prince Rupert Hospital has been declared over.

"This danger is particularly acute considering that numerous crucial technological advances made by American businesses and institutions in the fight against COVID-19 were made on the backs of billions of dollars of investment by American companies as well as billions more in American taxpayer money", the letter says.

1,877,330 B.C. residents have now received at least one dose of a vaccine, with 91,731 total second doses. "It means that everybody who's eligible, right now that's down to age 16, will have access to a vaccine before Canada Day, and we think significantly before that".

"Once you are registered, your dose will be reserved for you, and you will be notified when to book".

Doctor Henry says the province's vaccine supply will be increasing drastically, with over one million vaccine doses expected in the province this month.

"This is good news for all of us".

"All Health Canada-approved vaccines are safe and effective, and I encourage everyone to register and receive their vaccine as soon as they are eligible".
