B.C. records four COVID-related deaths, 113 new cases

The Post's analysis comes as the United States edges near recording 600,000 Covid-19 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

Within Interior Health, there are 320 active cases, down 15 from Tuesday.

British Columbia health officials say the province ranks among the highest in the world in the number of people who have their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Health officials note that Wednesday's case counts are "provisional" and may be adjusted once they're verified.

On the vaccination front, the ebbs and flows continue as 134 shots were given out yesterday, with only 50 of those being first doses. The province has so far administered 4,154,132 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines, including enough first doses for 76 per cent of the adult population. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

No deaths were registered in the last 24-hours.

"Our condolences are with the family, friends and caregivers of the people who have died as a result of COVID-19", said provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix in a joint statement.

108 new cases of the virus have been reported, bringing the total to 146,561.
