Outrage, disgust after 3 children shot at birthday party in Rexdale

"My thoughts are with the children who were injured and their families and friends as they deal with the bad impact".

He said paramedics were called to Tandridge Crescent and Byng Avnue just before 8 p.m. ET for reports of a shooting in the area.

A one-year-old boy was shot dead, while a five-year-old girl, an 11-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man were injured, Toronto Superintendent of Police Ron Taverner said.

Police had said four victims, with varying injuries, were being taken to hospital via emergency runs.

Parks said a one-year-old boy who was grazed by a bullet did not require treatment in hospital.

The other victims included an 11-year-old boy, who police said was in serious condition after being struck in the buttocks, and a 23-year-old man who had suffered a leg wound and whose condition was unknown.

Three children have been wounded after a shooting at a one-year-old's outdoor birthday party in Toronto. "It's awesome this kind of thing is happening", Ron Taverner told reporters at the scene of the play. "As much as this is a horrific, horrific situation, it could have been worse".

They were called to the scene just before 8pm in the Rextale neighborhood.

"My heart breaks for the innocent young victims of this senseless tragedy", his statement says. It's summertime, these kids are supposed to be eating ice cream, playing games. As far as motive, I can't say right now. there are a number of theories out there.

"To know that you were here, you seen the atmosphere and know that 80 per cent of the people that were here were children". The party was being held for a one-year-old boy.

"Obviously this is very early on in the investigation but at this particular time it doesn't look like any of the people who were shot were particularly targeted", Taverner said.

Both pleaded for anyone with information to contact police.

Police are urging members of the public to come forward with any information they have about the incident.
