President Biden invites The Queen to stay at the White House

Biden became the 13th sitting USA president to meet with Queen Elizabeth II during her 69-year reign.

After a state visit in 2019, Trump told Fox News: "There are those that say they have never seen the queen have a better time".

The 95-year-old monarch witnessed the Trooping the Colour in the grounds of castle, where the event was scaled-back because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Biden first met Elizabeth in 1982 when he was a senator, according to the White House.

President Biden described Queen Elizabeth as an "extremely gracious" woman who reminds him of his mother after meeting her at Windsor Castle. "In terms of the look of her and just the generosity".

The Queen has not travelled overseas since 2015 when she went to Malta with her late husband Prince Philip.

Jill Biden had marked Philip's birthday on Wednesday, tweeting: "We are holding the entire Royal Family in our hearts today, and wishing them peace and comfort on what would have been Prince Philip's 100th birthday".

Britain's royal family have had a turbulent year in the public eye following a bombshell interview given by the queen's grandson Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. The queen's grandson and his wife had stepped back from royal duties and moved with their son, Archie, to the Santa Barbara area.

US President Joe Biden violated royal protocol while attending a G7 dinner reception in the United Kingdom, the Daily Mail has reported, citing Debrett's, a leading authority on royal etiquette.

The Queen, 95, first met a serving USA president, Harry S Truman, as Princess Elizabeth in 1951. She has met every serving American president since Dwight Eisenhower - except Lyndon Johnson who did not travel to Britain while in office. It's one indication of the importance the monarch, who came of age following World War II, places on this "special" transatlantic relationship.

In that time, President Biden inspected the guard of honour whilst Her Majesty and Dr Biden watched on.

The Queen appeared in the castle's Quadrangle at 11 a.m. alongside her cousin the Duke of Kent who is Colonel of the Scots Guards, the regiment whose colors were trooped this year. Though Biden, unlike Trump, opposed Brexit and is committed to transatlantic relations, his Irish roots - and outspoken support for upholding the Good Friday Agreement - could lend a degree of awkwardness to the meeting.

She also undertook a separate engagement with Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, when the two visited a school on Friday. She was very generous. I don't think she'd be insulted but she reminded me of my mother. "I hope that will be soon".

"No I didn't. We've been busy".

In talks lasting just under three-quarters of an hour, the pair also discussed despots and autocrats - Presidents Putin of Russian Federation and Xi of China - although President Biden stopped short of revealing the monarch's view of the pair.
